ECC2510Australian economic history (6 points)(BUS) Leader: Professor Tony Dingle
Offered: Synopsis: The economic development of Australia during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with an emphasis on fluctuations in growth rates and changes in the structure of the economy over time. Topics include the development of land-based resources in the nineteenth century, especially pastoralism, gold and agriculture; industrialisation behind tariff barriers in the twentieth century; deregulation of the economy in the recent past; development of economic institutions; the changing role of government in the economy. Assessment: Written (2500-word essay): 40% + Tutorial assessment: 10% + Examination (2 hours): 50% Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week Prerequisites: ECC1000 and one of ECC1100 or ECC2100 or equivalent Prohibitions: ECC3510, ECC3514 |
