Synopsis: Systematic reviews of the literature are becoming increasingly available and many clinical specialties are publishing evidence-based clinical guidelines, position statements and recommendations based on the available evidence. Using one's clinical experience to interpret and apply these guidelines to individual practice allows even the busiest of clinicians to consider the external evidence when making treatment decisions. The skills needed to source, appraise and integrate this evidence are essential and are delivered through this proposed subject.

Assessment: Assignment 1A - pose your clinical question. (10%) Assignment 1B - source and appraise a systematic review. (25%) Assignment 2 - source and appraise a clinical guideline. (30%) Assessment of the component assignments is a Pass/Fail at the completion of this subject.
