Technical Aspects of Performance Making (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit will examine in detail the role of the Stage Manager and the major departments of Lighting, Sound, Costume, Props and Scenic fabrication. Students will utilise the methods of mainstream theatrical practice particular to the western theatre, and Australian, tradition to realise the mise-en-scene of a full length theatrical production. Students will also compare this methodology to non-professional practice.

Assessment: Class project (1500 words): 40% + Practical task: 60%

Contact Hours: 2 hour workshop per week

Prerequisites: PER1040 or technical skills evaluation
