DFS1612Knowledge and Context (6 points)(ARTS) Leader: Dr Stuart Levy
Offered: Synopsis: This unit will draw from the various disciplines in which the Diploma students are enrolled. It will explore different disciplinary approaches to knowledge to develop student's understanding of the importance and relationships between context and knowledge. It will critique different paradigms of knowledge to explore differences or similarities between scientific, humanities or social sciences perspectives. Students will identify, compare, contrast and discuss different disciplinary approaches to knowledge and be familiar with the relationships between knowledge and context. Assessment: Oral presentation (750 words): 15% + Essay (750 words): 15% + Essay (1000 words): 30% + Examination (2 hours): 40%. Contact Hours: 3 hours (1-hour lecture and 2-hour tute) Prerequisites: GSC1612 |
