Synopsis: This unit introduces students to the research activities in information technology domain and seeks to develop skills needed to carry out IT independent research. Having completed this unit, students will be able to understand different types of research methodologies and their role in IT research, write a well-organised and well-reasoned piece of technical writing, and present their ideas and research findings to an audience. At the end of this unit, students will be expected to produce a comprehensive research proposal.

Assessment: Attendance and class participation: 10% Weekly homework: 30% Research Proposal: 40% Presentation: 20%
