Multimedia programming and the world wide web (6 points)

Synopsis: Introduction to technical and design aspects of interactive media, focusing on the Internet and World Wide Web. Topics include, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), CGI, JavaScript and Dynamic HTML programming; Principles of user-centered design including graphical user interfaces, information architecture, information design, navigation, page layout, typography, colour systems, sound and animation.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Assignments: 30%

Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures per week

Prerequisites: CSC1030 or CSE1303 or equivalent

Corequisites: CSC2050 or CSE2305

Prohibitions: CSC2252, CSC3252, CSE2325, SFT2200,
