Synopsis: The internal mechanism of computers and how they are organised and programmed. Topics include machine arithmetic, microprogramming, caches, translation look-aside buffers, RISC machines, and pipelined and parallel organisation.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 65% + Laboratory work: 35%

Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures per week and one 3-hour laboratory per fortnight

Prerequisites: CSC1030 or CSE1303
