CSE2306Digital logic (6 points)(IT) Leader:
Offered: Synopsis: An introduction to understanding and designing digital logic circuits. Concepts: number systems, binary codes, logic operations, logic gates, and Boolean algebra. Topics include ICs and logic families, combinational logic circuits, standard forms, minimisation, MSI building blocks, latches, flip-flops and clocked sequential logic. Students will use CAD tools for design and simulations work. A 'chipkit' and 'breadboard' system is used for wiring circuit prototypes. Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 55% + Practical work: 30% + Tests, tutorial work and assignments: 15% Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures per week, one 1-hour tutorial and one 2-hour practical class per week Prohibitions: CFR1130, COT1130, CSC1021, CSC1082, CSC2061, CSE1101, CSE1200, CSE1308, DGS1111, GCO2812, PHS2041, RDT1111, ECE2701 |
