Synopsis: Transforming personal, organisational and societal activities through the use of computer networks and distributed information systems. Examples of distributed information systems: electronic commerce applications, small office home office, computer support for cooperative work. Optimising the achievement of organisational goals through the use of distributed information systems and technology. The systems approach. Types, functions and components of information systems and distributed information systems. The information systems development process: an overview of tasks, milestones and deliverables. Professional communication techniques.

Assessment: Examination: 60%, Team assignment 30%, Individual presentation 10%
