Communications, Convergence and Public Policy (12 points)

Synopsis: The unit draws on communications theory to provide an account of media convergence and cultural policy responses in a range of S.E. Asian nations (including Australia, Malaysia and Singapore) to digital integration on-line. Seminar presentations by staff, students or visiting lecturers will consider communication policy in the context of a range of topics (eg. The construction of on-line communities, the circulation of knowledge in the public sphere(s), and modes of internet content consumption by those on-line).

Assessment: Presentation (1000 words): 10% + Two short essays (2000 words each): 20% each + One long essay (4000 words): 50%
