Authorship and Writing (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit combines the study of ideas of authorsip with the critical study of a number of texts. The notion of authorship will be interrogated in relation to a variety of writing practices. The Romantic idea of the author (and that of the film auteur) will be examined in the light of recent critical theories.

Assessment: Essay (2000 words): 40% + Examination (2.5 hours): 60%

Contact Hours: 2 hours per week (1-hour lecture, 1-hour tutorial)

Prerequisites: COM1010 and COM1020 or equivalents
