Advanced psychological interventions (6 points)

Synopsis: History of the development of concepts of the mind, the nature of evidence for the efficacy or otherwise of various forms of psychological interventions, assessment in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy and the use of cognitive behavioural methods in depression, anxiety and psychosis. The unit also includes psychological approaches to understanding and managing aggression, and in encouraging compliance and prevention of relapse in psychosis, as well as dynamic and learning theory-based understanding and therapy of personality disorders.

Assessment: Study journal (30%) + Written assessment approx. 4,000 words (70%)
