Synopsis: This unit will provide a basic understanding of scientific research in mental health and the methods of evaluation of clinical practice. There will be topics addressing the medical and biopsychosocial models, psychodynamic principles, cognitive-behavioural models and the role of prevention in mental health. The unit will also cover the processes involved in multi-disciplinary team functioning, the roles of other stakeholders and consumers, and the function of various disciplines.

Assessment: Two written assignments (approx. 2,000 - 3,000 words each)
