Introductory geoengineering (4 points)

Synopsis: All aspects of geoengineering are considered at an elementary level, as well as basic engineering geology, formation and weathering processes, sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks, the geotechnical spectrum - soil, rock, weathering, deposition cycle, basic soil and rock properties, void ratio, water content etc, and the two phase model. The unit includes shallow and deep foundations.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 50% + Practical/project work: 40% + Test: 10% + Students must pass both examination and practical work/test components.

Contact Hours: 13 lectures, 26 hours of tutorial/workshop classes
