Operations management systems IV (6 points)

Synopsis: Operations Management in manufacturing and service organisations. Topics include financial calculations, an introduction to computer software systems in a management context, production planning and control, materials requirements planning and inventory control, project management with cash flow and costing, just-in-time systems, barcoding, quality assurance and the ISO 9000 standards, different types of organisation and their business strategies.

Assessment: Assignments (Numerical exercises, Software Case study or research paper): 20% - Examination (2 hours): 80% - Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit.

Contact Hours: One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour laboratory per week

Corequisites: BUS9530 or equivalent

Prohibitions: BUS3530, BUS4630, BUS4560, MBA5470
