Computational finance (6 points)

Synopsis: The application of computing technology to the solution of practical problems in investment/finance is taught in this unit. Shares, options and futures are covered, however the emphasis is on the application of computing to finance, using packages such as Excel and SAP which may be encountered by students who pursue a career combining computing and finance/accounting.

Assessment: Assignments and Tests: 40% + Examination (2 hours): 60% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit.

Contact Hours: One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour laboratory per week
