Risk analysis models for business (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit gives students a practical introduction to spreadsheet-based risk management modelling. The unit material will be presented through a series of business case studies covering numerous applications of risk analysis. Computer methodology will be taught on Microsoft Excel using advanced modelling tools and the students will also be introduced to the most widely used risk analysis software in industry. Risk analysis methods taught will include scenario analysis and simulation. Students will also be introduced to a framework for building effective spreadsheet based decision models.

Assessment: Laboratory and assignments: 20%+ Examination (2 hours): 80% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit.

Contact Hours: One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour laboratory per week

Prerequisites: BUS1100 or ETC1000
