Tourism Development, Planning and Special Events (12 points)

Synopsis: Patterns of tourism product development and infrastructure and the contemporary role of planning for Australian tourism. Key areas including ecotourism, Government policy and the impacts of different forms of tourism on communities, the environment and the 'landscape' of Australian tourism. The design and implementation of tourism product planning. Specific attention will be paid to the strategic role that Special Events play in tourism development.

Assessment: Oral presentation: 20% + Site analysis (1500 words): 20% + Planning assignment (6000 words): 30% + Examination: 30%
