ANY3630Feminism Cross-Culturally (6 points)(ARTS) Leader: Helen Johnson
Offered: Synopsis: The unit explores how global capitalism has entwined with processes of colonisation and religious beliefs and practices to shape and reproduce ideas and forms of domination that constitute women as biological reproducers of 'the nation', examines how women's corporeality is shaped by notions of 'moral virtue', and investigates the diversity of women's lived experience. Assessment: One research grant proposal (1000 words): 40% + one oral presentation and essay (3500 words): 60% Contact Hours: 2 hours (2 x seminars) per week Prerequisites: A second-year sequence in Anthropology, Women's Studies, or Comparative Societies |
