Modernities in the Making: Indigenous Peoples and Colonial Cultures (6 points)

Synopsis: As for ANY2530

Assessment: Tutorial participation: 10% + Oral presentation (equivalent to 1000 words): 25% + Book review and comparative assessment of published reviews (1000 words): 25% + Essay (2000 words): 40% + For the book review exercise students doing the unit at third-year level must additionally locate two published reviews and contrast these with their own reading of the ethnography they have chosen, whereas students at second-year level need only review the ethnographic monograph according to the guidelines for writing a review provided in the unit hand-out.

Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 lecture and 1 tutorial) per week

Prerequisites: A first-year sequence in Anthropology or History or Politics or Sociology or a cognate discipline or by permission
