Introduction to Australian Indigenous Societies II (6 points)

Synopsis: The unit focuses on Aboriginal political organisations and actions, issues of Aboriginal heritage protection, Indigenous experiences of the legal system, service provision in the areas of health and education, the meanings of concepts such as 'sovereignty', 'self determination' and 'Reconciliation', and the meanings and uses of Aboriginal art.

Assessment: Discussion paper (1500 words): 30% + Essay (2000 words): 45% + Class test (1hr) (Off-campus students required to sit an exam): 25%

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week (2-hour lecture, 1 hour tutorial)
