Synopsis: This subject will provide students with knowledge of research methods and common statistical techniques to a point where they will be able to comment critically on research papers and carry out a research project independently. This will involve discussion of issues in research design, study of a number of commonly-used statistical techniques, use of computer statistical packages, and discussion of a number of published papers from a research design point of view.

Assessment: Research proposal (2000 words): 10% + Literature review (3000 words): 10% + Assignment (quantitative analysis): 10% + Examination (3 hours): 70%

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week or equivalent

Prerequisites: Acceptance for enrolment in BBus(Acc)(Hons) or Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management
