Synopsis: Corporate modelling theory; models as decision support tools; models and user types; uses of models; types and characteristics of models; benefits and limitations of models; spreadsheets and financial modelling systems. Development of models including: why choose a spreadsheet; package comparisons; effective spreadsheet model design; spreadsheet modelling techniques; planning and development of various financial models using an industry standard spreadsheet; auditing spreadsheet models.

Assessment: Report writing assignment/essay: 20% + Examination (3 hours): 80%

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week

Prerequisites: AFF1110 or AFF1121 and ETX1100/ETX1640
