Course code: 3512 + Malaysia campus

This course will equip students for work in the biotechnology field. Biotechnology is a key technology in many developed and developing countries and there is a high demand for appropriately trained personnel.

Students will specialise in industrial aspects of biotechnology incorporating a core which covers applied microbiology and genetics, natural products chemistry, principles of modern instrumentation, experimental design and data analysis.

Stage two

• BIO2011, BTH2746, BTH2757, CHM2736, GEN2041, GEN2052, MIC2011
• SCI2010 or one six-point elective unit

Stage three

• BTH3757, CHM3736, GEN3031, GEN3041, SCI3716, SCM3910
• BTH3776 or BTH3797
• SCI2010 (if not already completed) otherwise one six-point elective unit
