This course is offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine both onshore and offshore. The offshore program is taught in conjunction with the George Washington University in Malaysia. The course provides onshore and offshore programs for professionals currently in, or seeking to be in, middle and senior health care management positions who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in the management of health services. It is offered mostly via off-campus learning with compulsory block requirements each semester. The onshore program can be taken over a 12 to 18-month period of three full-time semesters or over a three-year period part-time. The offshore program can only be taken part- time over three years. This degree caters for the special needs of medical and general hospital administrators, clinical doctors, quality assurance managers, team leaders, senior nursing administrators, unit managers and a range of general task coordinators within the health care system.
Applicants must have a medical degree, a bachelors degree with honours or graduate diploma, or a three-year bachelors degree with at least two years relevant professional experience in a health-related field. The department will individually assess applications from students without a three-year degree but with extensive relevant professional experience. In such instances, the department may require completion of the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Health Services Management before enrolling in the masters program.
This onshore program is comprised of seven core units and two elective options comprised of four units. The offshore program is comprised of nine core units.
Assessment includes web-based tasks, written assignments, examinations, and individual and group presentations.
