Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Community Health and Development)

General information

The Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Community Health and Development) course is of two years duration, offered part-time and by off-campus learning or by flexible learning mode (ie a combination of on-campus and off-campus learning modes). The course consists of four core units and four elective units. The course aims to provide the registered nurse with specialist preparation in community nursing. Graduates of the course will be well equipped to enter a wide range of careers in community health nursing and also be able to fully articulate the course and complete a Master of Nursing course.

Applicants would normally have a degree in nursing or a related discipline; registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria (Division 1 or eligible for registration); and at least one year of nursing experience.
Note that to satisfy the requirements of unit assessments within the course, it is expected that students will `network' with practitioners and agencies in the field of community health nursing. Also, students who are not currently working in a community health setting will be required to undertake four weeks practice in a community setting of their choice.
