Graduate Certificate of Nursing (Education)


General information

It is envisaged that the Graduate Certificate of Nursing (Education) will articulate with the Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education

This course, offered by the School of Nursing, will provide students with knowledge and skills in the development of nursing curricula as well as teaching and learning strategies relevant for nurses in a variety of settings. It will also explore professional nursing educational issues.

Applicants would normally have a degree in nursing or a related discipline; registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria (Division 1 or be eligible for registration); and at least one year of nursing experience.

Course structure

The course consists of one 12-credit point unit and two six-credit point units, which will normally be completed over a period of one year. This course is offered using a combination of on and off-campus learning and flexible teaching methods. Successful completion of the course requires the study of the following core unit plus two of the following elective units.

Assessment

Assessment includes written assignments, seminar presentations, clinical portfolios, reports and practicum.
