Graduate Certificate of Nursing (Children)


General information

The Graduate Certificate of Nursing (Children) offered by the School of Nursing aims to prepare specialist clinical nurses to be able to provide comprehensive care for children, and their families, within a variety of health care environments.

Applicants would normally have a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent; registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria (eg Division 1 or be eligible for registration); and at least one year of professional clinical experience. Special entry may be available.

Course structure

The Graduate Certificate of Nursing (Children) is a 24-credit point course, which involves two semesters, each of 13 weeks duration. This semester length is to facilitate adequate exposure of the student to the clinical environment enabling clinical competencies to be met.

Students are required to undertake the follow four core units that will permit the students to develop proficiency in child health nursing:

Assessment

Assessment includes clinical performance, case studies, written assignments, completion of learning packages and examinations.
