Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Early Childhood)


General information

The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Early Childhood) is designed for teachers, educators and other professionals wishing to continue to develop their knowledge and skills of early childhood education.

Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, applicants must hold either an approved three-year bachelors degree and an approved fourth year of study, or an approved four-year bachelors degree, or have qualifications or experience considered by the faculty board to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for, the above awards.

Course outline

The course consists of 48 credit points of study. Students will complete four 12-point units (two specialist elective units and two general elective units):

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Early Childhood) may complete a masters degree by undertaking up to a further two units (including a research core unit).

Length of course/workload required

The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Early Childhood) requires a minimum of at least one year of full-time study and no more than three years of part-time study. Each of the units is one semester in length. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.
