Graduate Diploma in Management

Course code: 0319 + Course abbreviation: GradDipMgt + Course director: Dr Damien Power + Offered in evening and/or Friday/ Saturday teaching modes at Caulfield campus, or in-house at an alternative venue as required + Normally completed in two semesters of full-time study or four semesters of part-time study

This eight-unit course has been especially designed to provide business personnel with an in-depth understanding of current management theory and practices, and to develop the skills and abilities required to lead and manage organisations in unpredictable and rapidly changing environments. A major feature of the Graduate Diploma in Management is the application of theoretical concepts and models to organisational realities. At one level, the course focuses on the strategic organisational issues of complexity, design, culture and active adaptation in dynamic environments. On another level, the course adopts a micro perspective and explores the importance of learning and self-management, specific managerial competencies, leadership and stakeholder relationships.

Applicants require a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution or an executive certificate offered by this faculty with an average grade of credit or above.
This is a fee-paying course. Applicants should consult the Department of Management as to the 2003 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of four credit exemptions for units considered to be equivalent to particular units in the course of study. Credit is restricted to study completed in the last five years. The course director assesses credit exemptions.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Management, including successful studies in two 5000-level units from the Department of Management, will be able to articulate directly into one of the Department of Management's masters courses. To complete a masters course, students will be required to complete a further four 5000-level units.
