Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics

General information

Course code: 2344 + Course abbreviation: GradDipApplEc + Course director: Dr Gennadi Kazakevitch + Offered by off-campus learning from the Faculty of Business and Economics - Gippsland campus + Normally completed in four semesters of part-time study + Not offered in 2003

The course has been designed for graduates from non-economics disciplines who wish to gain a formal qualification in applied economic studies. Alternatively, students may hold a degree in commerce or business during which they completed only the equivalent of first-year economics or which is of no more than 10 years standing. The course will target local and international students who are unable to study full-time or who do not have access to a university campus for campus-based, part-time study.

Applicants require a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution or an executive certificate from this faculty with an average grade of credit or above. Credits and exemptions may be granted for maximum of four units of relevant partially completed graduate studies. The merit of applications for credits and exemptions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. It is essential that units submitted for credit or exemption fit the philosophy and principles of this graduate course of study. Units studied more than five years ago are regarded as beyond a reasonable time limit for applicability and therefore not acceptable for credit/exemption.
This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Faculty of Business and Economics - Gippsland as to the 2003 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.
