Graduate Diploma in Music


General information

Course code: 3068 + Clayton campus + Mid-year entry available by part-time mode only + Course coordinator: Peter Handsworth

Synopsis

The Graduate Diploma in Music is designed for musicians to develop a greater knowledge, understanding and competence in music performance. The course is structured in such a way that all candidates obtain a proper grounding in music performance in their area of specialisation through the core unit MUM4960 (Chief practical study I). In addition, the electives allow students to combine a range of topics within their performance emphasis, according to their vocational needs. Areas for further performance-based scholarship include musicology, ethnomusicology and world music, composition, music education and pedagogy, contemporary music and Australian music.

Entry requirements

A bachelors pass degree in any discipline, plus a performance audition. In addition, all students must meet the faculty's English proficiency requirements.
