This course aims to facilitate the acquisition of theoretical knowledge, skills and attitudes inherent in palliative care practice and prepare division 1 nurses for entry into the specialist field of palliative care. On completion of this course, the student should be able to:
Applicants would normally have relevant registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria (Division 1) with at least one year of nursing experience and have a degree in nursing or a related discipline.
Access to a PC and the internet.
A compulsory 32 hours of negotiated fieldwork during the semester is required. Areas may include:
This course is to be completed over one year part-time.
Assessment consists of a combination of assignments, computer conferencing and fieldwork.
Nurses who have undertaken related study at a postgraduate level may be eligible for advanced standing.
