Postgraduate Certificate of Education (Information and Communication Technology in Education)


General Information

Aims

The Postgraduate Certificate of Education (Information and Communication Technology in Education) is designed to meet the needs of teachers and educators who are interested in developing an understanding of learning technologies and their application to a flexible learning environment.

Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, applicants must hold either an approved three-year bachelors degree and an approved fourth year of study, or an approved four-year bachelors degree, or have qualifications or experience considered by the faculty board to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for, the above awards.

The course consists of 24 credit points of study. Students will complete two 12-point units chosen from the following list:

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Certificate of Education (Information and Communication Technology in Education) may complete a postgraduate diploma or a masters degree by undertaking a further two or four units respectively.

Length of course/workload required

The Postgraduate Certificate of Education (Information and Communication Technology in Education) requires a minimum of at least one semester of full-time study and no more than two years of part-time study. Each of the units is one semester in length. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.

Advanced standing for previous study

Applicants contemplating admission to this course may seek formal credit or recognition of prior learning. Applicants should apply for credit/RPL prior to enrolment. The Faculty of Education considers each application on its merit within the context of the faculty guidelines on credit transfer.
