Executive Certificate in Risk Management
Course
code: 1569 + Caulfield campus + Full fee-paying course: local and
international students
The
objective of this program is to provide an integrated introductory course of
studies in risk management for non-graduates who have appropriate business
experience. On completion of the certificate, successful candidates should
have:
- an understanding and appreciation of fundamental risk management techniques
- practical and analytical skills in the approach to risk management and
related areas
- an understanding of the role and processes involved in risk management and
its relationship with the overall management of an organisation
- written, oral and research skills designed to improve analysis of and
ability to manage risk within an organisation
- the skills, opportunity and confidence to progress to further studies in
business and risk management at graduate level
- satisfied (in the area of risk management) the educational requirements
for the Australian Institute of Risk Management, and be admitted to membership
as an associate fellow.
Admission
to the executive certificate is open to those applicants who:
- have at least six yearsí appropriate employment experience,
and
- have been either an owner/manager or in a management/supervisory position
or have administered expenditure in excess of $500,000 per annum for at least
three years, and
- are recommended by their employer, or, if self-employed, provide suitable
references.
Students
should have access to a computer (at least a Pentium 166 with Windows 95 or
later), as a portion of the learning is via interactive tutorial disks. In
addition, it is strongly recommended that students undertake 12 hours of study
per unit per week.
Students
have the option of attending three weekend sessions per unit per semester.
The
executive certificate is offered on a part-time basis only and is of one
yearís duration by off-campus learning. Students are expected to
undertake two units per semester and pass the equivalent of four units to be
eligible for the award of Executive Certificate in Risk Management.
