Synopsis: The unit will study colonial art in relation to early settlement and the uses made of art in exploration and anthropology. Issues of contemporaneity, feminism and nationalism will focus discussion on the Heidelberg School.

Assessment: First seminar paper (2500 words): 25% + Second seminar paper (3000 words): 35% + Essay (3500 words): 40%
