VSA3020From Film Theory to Video Practice(ART)
David Hanan 12 points + 5 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: VSA2190 Forms of Narrative Cinema, or permission Synopsis: Unit is designed to build on existing theoretical, critical and historical subjects in Film and TV. Course culminates in groups producing videos as a part of their assessment, and it focuses on students acquiring the skills necessary to do so, including script development. Time is devoted to looking at a range of videos/short films in order to think through a production's rationale and theoretical relevance. Students are expected to attain a competence in most aspects of video filming using digital video cameras and supplementary sound systems and lights , and develop a proficiency in editing and sound mixing using new computer-based digital video-editing software. Assessment: Equipment proficiency test: 10% + Video editing and sound mixing exercise: 15% + Short script and/or story board (2250 words): 25% + A film journal (1350 words): 15% + Assessment of the role a student plays in a group productionL 25% + Report on students role in production (900 words): 10% |
