TRN5070Advanced Methodology in Translation Studies(ART)
Heinz Kreutz 6 points + 2 hours per week + Semester One + Caulfield and Clayton + Prerequisites: TRN4040, TRN4030, TRN4050 and TRN4000 Synopsis: The unit aims to explore, with a special focus on Translation Studies, the scope, relevance and nature of research. It will address questions and areas such as: methodological principles for translation research and for writing theory- related research papers, including an overview of research and research discussions and initiatives taking place in Translation Studies, the exploration theory-related research in translation studies, the special requirements for the translation of LSP-texts (Language for Special Purposes), including aspects of register, style, genre, terminologies, norms and standards), linguistic levels and translation theory, language as social interaction. Assessment: Research project (3000 words): 55% + three practical exercises (1500 words): 45% |
