TAD4791Understanding multimedia G(A&D)
3 points + 6 hours per week, including 2 hours lectures/tutorials and 4 hours independent study + First semester + Caulfield + Prerequisite: Enrolment in Graduate Diploma of Design (MMD) or Graduate Certificate in Design (MMD) Synopsis: This subject studies the social, historical, organisational and business contexts of multimedia. The diversity of applications of multimedia; education and training; referencing; access to information in quantity; entertainment and recreation; occupational and business; and the creation of artificial (virtual space) environments, will be discussed in the light of actual and potential benefits to society. A number of problem areas will also be discussed including standards of communication, access and equity issues for the disadvantaged, problems of inadequate design and usability, health, security, legal and social issues such as addition, gender and censorship. Assessment: Essay (1500 words): 50% + Class paper (1500 words): 50% |
