TAD3411Perception, imagination and judgement 3B(A&D) Not offered in 2002 3 points + One 1 hour lecture, one 1 hour tutorial per week + First semester + Caulfield + Prerequisites: 2 second-year level TAD units + Prohibitions: TAD2401, TAD2411, TAD3401 Synopsis: Introduction to visual perception including colour vision, the perception of space and depth and their application in art and design. Origins of mental imagery and the role of imagination in the mental life of individuals. Theories about the formation of symbols and the functioning of visual symbols in society and culture. Empirical studies of the formation of aesthetic judgement and the factors which influence such judgement in the individual and society. Assessment: Exercise (1250 words): 30% + Written assignment (2250 words): 70% |
