TAD2313Asian art and design and its influences in Europe B(A&D)
No current information available 3 points + 2 hours in class and 4 independent hours per week + First semester + Caulfield, OCDL + Prerequisites: TAD1101, TAD1102 + Prohibition: TAD2303 Synopsis: This unit is designed to encourage an emphathy with two-thirds of the world's population, through an informed appreciation of Asian Art/Design, Religion and Sociology/anthropology. The course will also develop students' awareness of theories and the attainment of knowledge about the study of cross-cultural aesthetics; much of which is also applicable to the study of non-Asian aesthetics. This survey course will not only introduce students to the study of pre-Twentieth centry Asian Art and Design, but also its many impacts on European visual culture. Assessment: Short essay (1000 words) 40% + Long essay (1200 words) including class presentation 55% + Class discussion 5% |
