STA1010Statistical methods for science(SCI)
Coordinator: Dr Cristina Varsavsky (Clayton)and Assoc Prof Philip Rayment (Gippsland/OCDL) 6 points + Two 1-hour lectures and one 2-hour laboratory per week + First/second semester: Clayton + First semester: Gippsland, OCDL + Prohibitions: GAS1631, MAT1060, MAT1711, MAT1722, MTH1210, MTH2210 or STA2010 Synopsis: Descriptive statistics, scatter plots, correlation, line of best fit. Elementary probability theory. Confidence intervals and hypothesis tests using normal, t and binomial distributions. Use of computer software. Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Assignments/ laboratories and tests: 30% |
