SPN3250Revolutions and literature in Spanish America(ART)
J Paredes 6 points + 2 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: SPN2130 or permission Synopsis: This subject studies the most important revolutionary movements in Spanish America in the Twentieth Century and the literary responses they drew from intellectuals and writers. Included for study are the Mexican and the Cuban Revolutions, the Allende era in Chile, and the Central American revolutions of the 1980s. The body of readings includes poetry and novels. Using these readings as a primary source, this subject aims to establish a close relationship between revolutionary thinking and literary production in the Hispanic World. Assessment: Research project and oral presentation (1500 words): 30% + Reading controls (1000 words): 15% + Mid-semester test (1 hour): 15% + Final essay (2000 words): 40% |
