Russian syntax

Synopsis: The unit provides a study of the basic syntactic structures of Russian with some investigation of the syntax of other Slavic languages. Topics covered include sentence types, sentence analysis, word order, impersonal constructions, agreement and government.

Assessment: Essay (2500 words - 4 tasks): 50% + Examination (2 hours - 2000 words): 50% Assessment differs from RUS3370 in that students undertake some research exercises whose successful completion requires independent work with primary sources.
