Synopsis: Topics covered include: the social construction of men as breadwinners and women as home-makers; the changing nature of domestic work; the changing nature of parenthood and childhood; mothering and fathering seen historically; predictions about the future such as dual-career marriages. The overall theme will be: HIS marriage versus HER marriage.

Assessment: Essay (2500 words) 60% + Class test (1.5 hours): 30% + Class participation: 10%
