Synopsis: This unit is intended for students with no knowledge of Russian. It consists of two parts: a survey of basic grammar and the development of reading, writing, comprehension and conversation skills; an introduction to Russian (and other Slavic) culture (one hour per week).

Assessment: Written (1000 words): 20% + Examinations (3 hours): 60% + Oral work: 20%
