S M Vladiv-Glover 6 points + 2.5 hours + Second semester + Clayton + Prohibition: RSS2090 Synopsis: An introduction to Russian Realism of the 19th century through the study of literary texts in a comparative perspective (with French and English literatures). The relationship of the theory of realism, as represented in the manifestos of the French and Russian 'physiologists', and materialism will form the general philosophical background to the discussions.
