PHL1020Introduction to philosophy B(ART)
Karen Green 6 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prohibition: PHL1080 Synopsis: Students take any two of the following three components: (i)'Time, Self and Freedom', which introduces issues in metaphysics concerning time, personal identity and human freedom through a consideration of science fiction stories in which these issues are prominent; (ii) 'Values and the Meaning of Life', which examines how major decisions in personal and public life depend on values and our world view; (iii) 'Introduction to Logic', which studies formal techniques for distinguishing between valid (or correct) and invalid (or incorrect) reasoning and argument.
