MUS2040Music Composition and Technology Ensemble(ART)
Thomas Reiner 6 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton Synopsis: The subject introduces students to a range of approaches to the interpretation and performance of contemporary music. It examines how composers articulate their musical ideas and how performers can translate these ideas into coherent sonic forms. Different performance styles are explored on the basis of a range of musical scores, including those prepared by the School of Music - Conservatorium's composition students. Students investigate the performance of contemporary music as the creation of an aesthetic entity. Students will learn to assess critically their own ability and potential in interpreting and creating today's music. Assessment: Hurdle requirement: attendance of a minimum of 10 performance seminars + Concert exam: 50% + Concert preparation: 30% + Program notes (500 words): 10% + Listening test: 10% |
