First Semester + Clayton + Selection is based on performance in third year microbiology

Synopsis: A combination of course work and laboratory research allowing students to specialise in biotechnology, molecular genetics, medical microbiology, microbial physiology, molecular virology or cellular and molecular parasitology. The coursework involves colloquia that examine selected topics at an advanced level, attendance and participation in seminars, and the completion of appropriate written reports. The research component of the subject involves a research project carried out under the supervision of an academic staff member.

Assessment: Coursework: 40% + Research project: 60%
